Travel. Mazara is connected to Palermo (Sicily's largest city) via the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway
(a regular bus service is provided by Autoservizi Salemi).
The nearest airports are the Palermo Airport (Aeroporto Falcone-Borsellino located at Punta Raisi; 1h and 10 mins drive) and the Trapani-Birgi Airport (Aeroporto Vincenzo Florio; 45 mins drive). There are no direct buses/trains between either airport and Mazara, but only shuttle services which are run by Tourist Service Mazara and Autoservizi Siberiana (webpages are at times in Italian, but you can use English to book shuttles).
Several direct flights connect every day Palermo Airport (PMO) to Roma Fiumicino (FCO), Milano Linate (LIN) and Milano Malpensa (MXP). There are also direct flights between PMO and European airports such as* Madrid Barajas (MAD), Marseille (MRS), Paris Beauvais (BVA), Berlin Shonefeld (SXF), Munich (MUC), Zurich (ZRH), London Stansted (STN).
There is* a daily flight operated by Alitalia connecting Trapani-Birgi (TPS) with Roma Fiumicino (FCO) and another one with Milano Linate (LIN). In addition, there are direct flights connecting TPS to some international destinations.
Lodging. There are a number of B&Bs within walking distance from the workshop site, such as Melia Resort, B&B Zaccaria, Cortile Sant'Agostino, Umberto I. Typical B&B rates are between 35 and 70 Euros per night.
